What Are Therapy Intensives?

Therapy intensives are extended, focused sessions that allow clients to make significant progress in a shorter period of time. Unlike traditional weekly therapy, intensives might span several hours or even days, providing a deep dive into specific issues. This model is increasingly popular among therapists who want to offer more flexible and impactful services, and among clients seeking faster results (Marketing Therapy Intensives, 2024).

Why Marketing Matters for Therapy Intensives

Many therapists are passionate about helping others but struggle with the business side of private practice—especially marketing. The video emphasizes that effective marketing is essential for reaching the right clients and making therapy intensives a viable part of your practice. Without a solid marketing plan, even the most skilled therapists may find it difficult to fill their schedules or communicate the unique value of intensives.  I came across this free YouTube video from Steffeny Feld to help build your practice.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2jgK6Exp0E .  Hopefully this is a tool for you to help you get started and think things through.

Resources for therapists thinking about Intensive Practice

This blog is ideal for therapists in private practice looking to diversify their offerings, clinicians interested in working less while earning more, mental health professionals who want to feel more confident in their marketing efforts, and anyone curious about the logistics and benefits of therapy intensives.  Steffeny Feld is a good resource with her Intensive Design Lab as well as Kristen Wold.  Kristen has a cohort model as well as Jessica Good, who is often on Tik Tok discussing her EMDR Intensive only private practice has several tools and tips as well.  Checkout our YouTube video for Financial Well Being and Intensives  https://youtu.be/edr1c6SENCM?si=C7WNf1Jxjv4sN6A9 You can also view her interview here with another therapist about EMDR Intensives: https://youtu.be/fgGhFZuZU0g?si=IpKOsNPvJA8-MIhP

This fall, I plan on attending the Intensive Trauma Therapy Conference to help be build my intensive practice as well.

Where I would start...

After all of this, my Go To Tool is still Kambria Evans at Zero Disturbance.  I got my start with Kambria after I googled "EMDR and business" and came up with her design.  This has modules and tools that walk you through what it takes to launch including pricing, branding and marketing.  Her Intensive Design Basic Kit and workbook has been a major source of support in starting my own practice and also when working with consultees, with practical tools and advice.

I have been in the intensive community for a few years now, and this continues to be my favorite resource for starting, and breaking down those hard to ask questions.  I wanted the tools to start right away, rather than going to a conference or session where the tools were great, but the structure was not there.

Good luck to you and always glad to help!

Kathy
