About Your Co-Host: Tony Parmenter, MA, LCMHC, EMDRIA Approved Consultant Tony Parmenter is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor practicing in Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Iowa, and Massachusetts. He is the owner and founder of Seiyu Institute for Health & Training, L3C, where he maintains a specialized psychotherapy and training practice focused on complex trauma, intergenerational healing, and the integration of creativity, adventure, and spirituality in the trauma recovery process. Tony is an outdoor enthusiast, musician, and creator of the first fishing rod designed specifically as a psychotherapy tool. Before entering the mental health field, Tony served as a U.S. Air Force veteran during Operation Enduring Freedom and later worked as an ESL teacher in Tokyo, Japan. His early cross-cultural experiences shaped his deep understanding of trauma among service members, first responders, healthcare professionals, and creatives. He began his clinical journey as a volunteer crisis counselor in Tokyo, sparking a lifelong passion for serving those impacted by trauma. Tony was originally trained in EMDR by Laurel Parnell and works from an attachment-focused, holistic lens. He is the creator of the Medicine-free Altered State Recovery System (MARS) and Therapeutic Fly-fishing with EMDR (TF-EMDR)—innovative approaches integrating nature-based healing with evidence-based trauma treatment. He is a Certified EMDR Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and EMDRIA Approved Credit Provider. He facilitates EMDR Basic Trainings, provides consultation along the EMDR pathway, and offers advanced trainings in trauma therapy, nature-based interventions, and experiential techniques. Tony’s integrative clinical approach includes the Safe & Sound Protocol, Ego State/Parts Work, ACT, elements of clinical hypnosis and past-life regression therapy, and eco-therapy. He is a Level 3/Master practitioner in Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki and a Level 2/Chuden practitioner in Komyo ReikiDo. He is also a Certified Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy provider and member of the Psychedelic Society of Vermont. Tony volunteers as a therapist with the Vermont TRN and serves with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Mental Health Associate and Service to Armed Forces Workshop Facilitator. As a trainer and educator, he has held visiting and adjunct professorships at New York University, Bellevue University, and Purdue University. He regularly presents on nature-based healing, complex trauma, intergenerational trauma, and the integration of EMDR with experiential and holistic modalities.
